Free AI Training for Charities, CICs & Community Groups

Blog7

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer something only large organisations or technical experts can use. Today, AI tools can help charities, CICs and community organisations save time, reduce admin pressure and communicate more effectively — even with limited staff or volunteers.

I have been experimenting with, self-teaching, and using AI for a couple of years now, and I’m more than willing to help others along the learning curve. If you’d like to explore how AI might work for your organisation, please feel free to contact me during normal office hours and we can have a relaxed chat about how it could support what you do.

How AI Can Help Your Organisation

AI can already help charities and community groups with practical tasks such as:

  • Writing newsletters, emails and social media posts
  • Drafting funding applications and reports
  • Creating website content and updates
  • Summarising meeting notes and action points
  • Supporting volunteers with ideas, structure and guidance

For small organisations, this can feel like having an extra pair of hands — without replacing people or values.

Turning a Skills Gap into a Volunteer Opportunity

Many organisations tell me the same thing:

“We don’t have anyone who understands AI.”

This is actually an opportunity.

Instead of needing an expert straight away, organisations can:

  • Recruit a volunteer who is interested in learning AI
  • Offer them a meaningful role with responsibility
  • Support them through free or government-funded AI training

This approach works well for:

  • Volunteers looking to gain new digital skills
  • People returning to work
  • Younger volunteers interested in modern technology
  • Community members who want to learn while giving back

AI skills are increasingly accessible — and learning does not need to be expensive.

Free UK Government AI Training (Official Resource)

The UK Government has announced free AI training for the general public, designed to help people build confidence using AI in everyday work.

These online courses are:

  • Free to access
  • Designed for beginners and non-technical users
  • Focused on practical, real-world use
  • Suitable for individuals, volunteers and organisations

👉 You can read more about the official government initiative here:

Many charities and CICs use this training as a starting point for volunteers or staff who want to develop digital confidence.

How I Can Help

I support charities, CICs and local good causes in understanding and using AI ethically, practically and at their own pace.

My role is not to sell technology, but to help organisations feel confident and informed.

I can help with:

  • Explaining AI in plain English
  • Showing realistic, ethical uses of AI for charities
  • Helping organisations identify suitable free training routes
  • Supporting or mentoring volunteers who want to learn AI
  • Advising on how AI can fit alongside your existing work

I already use AI in real-world community and charity settings and understand both its benefits and its limitations.

Interested in Exploring This Further?

If your organisation:

  • Is curious about AI but unsure where to start
  • Would like to support a volunteer interested in learning AI
  • Wants guidance on free or funded training options

I’d be very happy to talk things through.

Optional (you can add this at the bottom if you wish)

AI should support people, not replace them. Used responsibly, it can help charities and community organisations focus more time on what really matters — people and impact.
